Coolamon Classic
Ben Hill and Michael Baker broke away from the field with 10 km to go. Ben and Michael held of a surging pack to take 1st and 2nd. Joel Stewart won the bunch sprint and took out the Kidsons Cycles Tour De Riverina 2010 title as a result. His 3rd place points catapulted Joel into the lead. Joel was chased home by Peter Treloar and Simon Haworth. Simon's 5th place finish moved him into 2nd place overall on a count back. Travis Lindhe who was unable to race the last stage finished 3rd. Peter Treloar's 4th place in stage 5 secured him 4th place overall. Ben Hill's stage win moved him into 5th place overall.
It was a fairly hectic run to the finish line with limit being caught just after the last left hand turn at 15km's to go. The calm weather conditions allowed the field to stay together and it was only in the last kilometre that saw the field split as the Canberra guys wound it up for the uphill finish. The spectator's at the finish were treated to a feast of colour as the 60 plus riders sprinted for the line shortly after Ben Hill and Michael Baker crossed the line. Ben Hill's win was the third for a Canberra CC rider and Joel Stewart's overall Kidsons Cycles Tour De Riverina win was a Canberra riders first title. Travis Lindhe's 3rd place was the first for a Cobram rider and Simon Haworth's replicated his second place in 2006 with another 2nd place overall in 2010.
The wait was certainly worth it for Robert Hall from Griffith CC. He went home with the big prize of the day, the C50A Carbon TOKEN Wheels proudly donated by Kidsons Cycles and Jet Black Cycling. Robert was one happy man!!
The Top 10 on GC and the top 3 in each category got to take home a share of $2600 in prize money gathered over the Tour. A Big thanks to Kidsons Cycles for providing another $500 in stage prizes and Aussie Butt Cream for the fantastic product that was given away during the Tour.
Wagga Wagga CC took out the prestigious Barry O'Hagan Club Trophy for the 3rd year in a row. Wagga CC won with 107 points, 2nd was Tolland CC with their highest ever finish on 35 Points, Griffith CC were 3rd on 34 points, Albury/Wodonga CC were 4th on 33 Points and Cootamundra CC were 5th on 21 points,

Coolamon Classic
What Bunch am I in for the Coolamon Classic? The handicapper advised bunches are subject to change.
Is this as good as gets?
Not only will we have a set of TOKEN carbon C50A wheels to give away but we'll also have some Aussie Butt Cream to give away in the lucky draw. Currently, riders have a 1 in 84 chance of winning the wheels, not bad odds.
Stage 5 and the Leaders Are?
Tour Leader - Travis Linde
Leading Female -Samantha Hemsley
Leading Young Rider - Brodie Pearse
Best 45+ - Steven Marks
Leading Team - Team Suzuki
Leading Scratch Rider - Joel Stewart

TOKEN C50A Carbon Wheels.
There are 17 riders entered so far that have 5 chance/tickets in the draw to win the wheels, not bad odds. There's another 17 that 4 chances/tickets, all up 205 riders names are going in the draw to win the wheels proudly supplied by Kidsons Cycles and Jet Black Cycling. It only takes the one ticket to win but you gotta be at the presentation to win them.
Who's Gonna Win
5 stages down and 1 to go, no one rider has the Tour wrapped up. Tour leader Travis Lindhe, is not racing and is at the mercy of the gods. He'll be wanting limit to take the points. High place finishes for anyone of a number of riders will catapult them into the lead of the overall Tour. The same goes for the 45+, Female, Best Young rider and Scratch rider categories.
Prizes will be paid to the top 10 on GC and the top 3 in each category, Good Luck!

Results
The full results are up for all to see.
There's been a slight reshuffle of the top ten after stage 4. Joel Stewart was the big mover, he jumped from 7th to 2nd overall. Simon Haworth has moved into 3rd outright. Rohan Taylor is equal on points with Peter Treloar, Baden Burke and Joel Finucane for 4th place. However, Rohan's is currently placed 4th on a count back, he's won a stage. The big news of the moment is that Tour Leader, Travis Linde is unable to contest the last stage in Coolamon on 6 Jun 2010. The change in date for stage 5 has conflicted with an overseas trip that Travis had planned to depart on after the original date of stage 5, 23 May 2010. It's now all in the hands of the gods.
It's still anyone's race in the best Female category, a top 10 placing in stage 5 could see a come from behind winner.
Brodie Pearse appears to have some competition in the Best Young Rider category with Michael Baker moving up within striking distance.
Steve Marks still has a healthy buffer in the 45+ category but he's not home yet, Charlie Westerman and Michael Schmid could take it out with a top 2 finish in stage 5.
Joel Stewart looks to have the best Scratchman prize wrapped up. Unless, Peter Treloar has a Fabian Cancellara inspired moment and rides away from Scratch, through the rest of the field and has a top 5 finish.
Team Suzuki have the Team title all wrapped up after their effort on Saturday. It's now a contest to see who can fill the 2 remaining podium spots.
The plan is pay back to 10th on GC and the top 3 in each category, so there's plenty still to race for in the Kidsons Cycles 2010 Tour De riverina. We mustn't forget final stage honors as well, like Robbie said, you only ever remember who won the last stage of a Tour.

Dean Carter Memorial
Stage results - Here and what and epic stage of the Kidsons Cycles Tour De Riverina. It had it all, rain, wind and unfortunately a couple of crashes. The weather forecast was for a gap of about 3 hours without rain from about 12pm, the weather man got it wrong. The poor conditions favored the back markers with all but limit caught by the turn. Limit where gobbled up a couple of kilometres after the turn where the race got a bit frantic as riders scrambled for a wheel in the cross winds. Most circum to the fast pace and lack of road in the dash for home. The Canberra boys controlled the race to the finish and took out 3 podium spots.
We had 77 rider contest stage 4 and believe it or not, we've had 204 riders contest the 4 stages so far.

Stage 3
Stage results, here and full tour results, here.
It's All Looking Good!
Another fantastic stage for Tour leader, Travis Lindhe. Travis picked up some points again and has opened up a very handy lead over stage 3 winner, Rohan Taylor. Travis leads Rohan by 8 points and it's going to be a mammoth task to close the gap with only two stages left. However, Rohan is no stranger to pressure, after reducing a points gap in the last two stages of the 2008 TDR to take overall victory, can he do it again?
We had 74 starters for stage 3.
Tour Leader - Travis Linde
Leading Female -Samantha Hemsley
Leading Young Rider - Brodie Pearse
Best 45+ - Steven Marks
Leading Team - Team Suzuki
Leading Scratch Rider - Joel Stewart
Steve Marks third place has him now in the lead of the 45+ category. Steve's nearest rival, Peter Budd is 8 points behind. However, Peter will have the home town advantage for stage 4 and it may prove the difference.
The race is still wide open in the female category. Samantha Hemsley leads by way of having the most first place female placing's.
Brodie Pearse has a very healthy lead in the Best Younger Rider category and may not have to much competition with the low number of juniors contesting the Tour.
Team McDonalds Classic have narrowed the margin to 10 points from Team Suzuki. Wagga Cycle Centre are just another 2 points back and within striking distance of the lead.
Joel Stewart only leads by just the one point in the Leading Scratchman category. It should be a great battle between current second pace sitter, Peter Treloar and Joel over the last two stages.

Where are you for Stage 3?
The handicapper has done his thing, bunches.
After stage 2, Tour leader Travis Linde has the overall title firmly in his sights. However, his quest has been made a little more challenging, he's slips back another bunch to Block. Peter Budd, the leading 45+ rider and Samantha Hemsely, the leading female both appear to be a no show. That'll open the door for other hopefully winners of the individual categories to take over the lead.
Don't forget every stage you ride is a ticket into the draw for the Wheels from TOKEN. Make sure you hang around for the presentation, we have some Aussie Butt Cream to give away.

Stage 2
Stage results, here and full tour results, here.
Travis Linde has strengthened his quest for a Kidsons Cycles TDR title with a fantastic 4th place finish at the Stock Fair race. Ryan Quade has also had a great stage two, picking up some valuable points for the overall. We have had a couple of changes in the category leaders. Peter Budd has taken over the lead in the 45+ category and Joel Stewart is now the Leading Scratch Rider. Two stages down, three to go and it's still anyone's Tour to win.
Team Suzuki had another great stage and have opened up a lead on the others. Wagga Cycle Centre have also had 3 riders finish in the top ten and are within striking distance of the lead.
We had a 87 starters for Stage 2.
Tour Leader - Travis Linde
Leading Female -Samantha Hemsley
Leading Young Rider - Brodie Pearse
Best 45+ - Peter Budd

Where are you?
The handicapper has done his thing, bunches.
We have a 102 starters for Sunday's stage at Stockinbingal and it's probably been a while since the Cootamundra Club has been out numbered. The Kidsons Cycles Tour De Riverina is getting some fantastic support from Canberra riders and Wagga riders, both clubs are fielding more than half the riders of the 102 starters, well done.
All but the the leading Scratchman, Michael Phelan has entered for Sunday. Tour Leader, Travis Linde is making the trip all the way from Cobram to defend his lead. I believe that Travis may be the first Cobram CC rider to wear the coveted leaders yellow number.
Please show a little more caution when the bunch starts to swell. Please don't forget that we have a lot of new racers in the field. I also suggest that riders develop a risk assessment strategy for the race and finish. Please, constantly way up your chances of running a place verse crashing/being out of your depth. Have a think about your competition from the bunches coming from behind. Am I strong enough? I'm a rider on third limit (for example), can I out sprint a guy on Block or Scratch? If the answer is YES then have a go. If the answer is NO then please roll off the back of the bunch in the last kilometre or so.

Explosion
We have had an explosion of entries for the race and for the Teams. We now have 133 rider entries for Stage 1 and 11 registered Teams. It awesome to see that we have 3 teams from Canberra, 5 from Wagga, 1 from Tolland and 2 from Albury/Wodonga. Griffith, Cootamundra and others still have a couple of days to be part of the contest.
Aussie Butt Cream
Petrina Quinn (Aussie Butt Cream) has been a great supporter of the Tour De Riverina and cycling in general. She has again come on board as a sponsor and will be supplying some great new packaged product to give-away to a lucky few at each Stage presentation.

We have a First
The Kidsons Cycles Tour De Riverina has never had an all female team until now. 4 Ladies from Canberra CC have taken up the challenge, great stuff. So far we have teams from Canberra, Tolland Albury/Wondonga and Wagga. Team entries are still open, so get together with 3 others and add a little more excitement to your Tour.
Great Start
Still two days to register and we have 124 entries. The 2010 Geoff Dixon memorial handicap is going to be a real contest. Last years Tour champion, Jeremy Scott has returned to defend his title. The Female champion, Susie Boer has entered. Ken Payne is on the start list, the 45+ champion will be hoping to be the first to win back to back titles. Last years Team champions, Southern Sports academy are back to try and do it all again. Wagga CC have 28 members taking the start line on Sunday and look set to try and hold onto the Barry O'Hagan Club Trophy for a third year.
Stage Details
There is now a map of the Geoff Dixon memorial course available. I have used mapmyride, It does some pretty cool stuff. Click on the 'Watch Course Fly-by Video' it's like flying over the course in a Crop Duster (plane). Check the box in the 'info & tools' box located on the right and it will display the elevation for the course.

Stage 1 entries - Geoff Dixon Memorial
3 weeks to go until the start of the Kidsons Cycles 2010 Tour De Riverina and we already have 40 entries. Don't forget that AWCC are offering two days of racing. The Saturday is the Big River Roofing MAC10 Criteriums, followed by Stage 1 of the TDR on the Sunday. It's a great opportunity to make a weekend of it and enjoy the hospitality of the Albury/Wodonga region.
Entries are being taken for the team category. There has been a couple of rule changes, teams can now be made up from riders from any club and you have the luxury of having a reserve rider. So now, team aspirations are not sunk if someone in injured and or can't make it to a race.

Title Sponsor
Kidsons Cycles have come on board as the title sponsors for the third consecutive year. More details to be released shortly.
